Children's Liturgy of the Word
Children’s Liturgy of the Word takes place during the10am
Sunday Liturgy. After the Gathering Rite, children ages 5 through
12 are invited to a separate area where they proclaim, celebrate
and reflect on God’s Word led by an adult leader. Children’s
readings are readily understandable and meaningful to the younger
assembly. The children return to the Church for the celebration
of the Eucharist and remainder of Mass.
Fully initiated adults are welcome to become leaders any time.
We provide preparation materials and lots of help! Leaders sign-up
for dates they’d like to preside, which work out to be about
one time a month (see schedules at right). If you are interested
in leading this ministry, please contact Sue McGinn (216-862-1378)
or Emily Sullivan (440-516-1035). Once leaders are comfortable,
you may sign up on the calendar in the sacristy.
Children also help by being candle and book bearers. If you’d
like to participate with those parts, arrive at church early and
let someone know.
Please note that there is no Children’s Liturgy of the Word on Sundays of major holidays, Generations of Faith or when First Communions or Confirmations are celebrated.
Schedules are provided in pdf format. If you do not have Acrobat Reader, you can download a free copy here: |
